Mahila Samiti English school was founded in the year 1956 by the wives of officers of the Electrical Department of Central Railway for children of underprivileged staff members. The school is still managed by railway officials and has completed 64 years now.

As years passed, the strength of the students and size of the school grew. The school began its secondary-VIII in 1976–77. Three years later in 1978-79 the first batch of SSC students marched out the school in flying colours. By 1987 the construction of a three-storey building was completed which enabled them to accommodate more and more students.

Mahila samiti Jr college of science and commerce was started in the year 2013.

To regulate and monitor the smooth functioning of the school an administration body was formed and registered under the charity commissioner's office, Thane. Since all the members (wives of railway officers and staff) were women, the body came to be known as "Mahila Samiti" (women's committee) and they gave the same name to "Mahila Samiti" School.

Thakurli then was a small village terrain region with no education facilities around and this school proved to be a boon to the people residing in Thakurli and nearby area . The school grew in prominence and led to a growing number of enrolments from children from adjoining towns of Dombivli and Diva.

Today Mahila Samiti school is one of the most reputed school and in 2013 Junior college of Science and Commerce was started which has enhanced the reputation of the institution.

The school not only excels in academics but also in co-curricular activities. The school is situated very close to the station, is well equipped with modern technique of education like e-learning, has a big well equipped library, well equipped and big science and computer labs, huge play ground which is a distance dream for most of the educational institutions today. It has biometric system of attendance and the whole administrative system is computerised.

The school and college both has very highly qualified ,trained, dedicated and experienced teaching and non teaching staff and is blessed with a very dedicated and efficient management who shares excellent rapo with the staff and the parents.

The institution is known for its excellent SSC and HSC results as well as excellent performance by our students in all competitive exams and sports at the Taluka, District and State level.

We can proudly say that this institution is one of the best in Maharashtra and one of the oldest and well-known institutions.
